Red Bird Brewing wanted a name for their brewery to have a strong connection to the community and be based on the rich history of Kelowna.
The brewery takes its name from a boat race in the annual Kelowna Regatta, which was an outdoor festival that ran for 81 years and was one of the largest in Canada. The festival began under a different name before the city had even been established, so the roots go deep into the community’s history. The owner discovered a story of an old race boat used in the early days and was inspired to name his brewery. It felt like a perfect fit. The Kelowna Regatta is what brought the community together for the entire Okanagan and even pulled in visitors from the far ends of the province. Red Bird Brewing was born.
Community drives every decision made at Red Bird Brewing. There are no TVs on the walls, the volume of the music is low, the tap list is diverse, and the staff is friendly. The community tables make for great conversations, so come enjoy a pint.
