Have Questions? We Have Answers! Frequently Asked Questions

Can you hold seats for my extra riders in my group?

Spots are first come first served, so don’t miss out by waiting to the last minute. Our activities are fully refundable up to 72 hours prior to the activity.

Should I tip the guide?

Tips are always appreciated, but not required. Our guides work hard to make sure your tour is as enjoyable as possible.

What is the cancellation policy?

If your tour has less than the minimum of 6 riders,  for physical reasons of pedaling the bike, we will contact you and attempt to rebook you to a different tour time with more riders aboard. If rescheduling is not possible, we will provide you with a full refund.

Our activities are fully refundable up to 72 hours prior to the start of your activity. If you cancel less than 3 days (72 hours) in advance, there will be no refund or rain-check for your payment.

All rides are required to be paid in full at the time of booking. When rain is in the forecast please come prepared with a rain jacket. All tours run rain or shine.

Can we dress up?

Absolutely. Dressing up the BEST way to make the most of your Smile Cycle Tours pedal bike experience.

Can we decorate the bike?

We welcome it. As we tour through high-traffic areas, all decorations must be family appropriate. Please contact us if you’d like to decorate the bike, and ensure you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of your activity.

What if I'm injured, or unable to pedal?

Five of the fifteen seats available on board are non-pedalling seats. Of the five, three are located as bench on the back of the bike, and two are above the rear wheels.

I'm not drinking, are non-alcoholic options available?

There are several non-alcoholic options available to you at our partner locations. Be sure to let a guide know at the start of the tour, so they may direct you to these options as needed. If your entire group is not interested in drinking, the Discover Kelowna Bike Tour may also be a great option for you.

Where do we meet?

All tours depart and return to the back of Central Kitchen + Bar, located at 1155 Ellis Street in downtown Kelowna. Treat yourself to one of Central’s award-winning meals before the start or end of your tour! Central requests that you place your RSVP 90 mins before the start of your tour.

Are helmets required on board the Smile Cycle?

For those over the age of 16, helmets are available but not required to be worn. For those under the age of 16, helmets must be worn. We have adult and youth sizes available. You are welcome to bring your own helmet if you prefer.

What should I bring?

Bring comfortable pedaling footwear, as well as a water bottle. Your water bottle can be refilled at any one of our partner spots along the tour. All tours run rain or shine, so dress according to the weather. There is plenty of storage aboard for rainjackets or extra layers. For tours featuring craft beer, wine, or cider, please bring two pieces of ID, one of which must be a piece of government-issued photo ID.

Are Private Tours available?

Yes! We welcome company socials, birthdays, stags (bachelor parties), stagettes (bachelorette parties), team-building events, family reunions, and all other types of groups. Come celebrate aboard the Smile Cycle Tours pedal bike and take part in our unique tour. The Private Tour option is great for those who want to reserve the entire bike for their group. It also includes a chance to provide optional input with our booking team as we build your own three-stop itinerary. In the weeks leading up to your tour, we will contact you to discuss tour stops. We suggest options to you based on the date and time of your specific tour. Each bike requires a minimum of six riders and can accommodate a maximum of fifteen. For very large groups, send us a message in the contact form if you’d like to reserve multiple bikes (15+ persons).

Do I need to have a group of 15 to participate?

No, you do not have to be part of a large group to participate. We’re a social activity designed to engage, so we encourage individual participants, too. Our reservation software works to pair you up with other smaller groups, if possible, which makes the tour more fun for everyone. Since there is no electrical assist, our tours need a minimum of six guests to run. Bottom line: the Smile Cycle Tours pedal bike is a great way to meet new people, so don’t hesitate to book alone, or as a pair.

Can I bring my own alcohol and drink aboard?

The government of British Columbia does NOT permit alcohol aboard group pedal tours. Our tours visit some of Kelowna’s best downtown breweries, Sandhill Winery, and BC Tree Fruits cider mill. Book individual seats on our Kelowna Brewery Tour or reserve one or more entire bikes on our Private Tour.

How long is the tour?

All beverage tours are two hours in length and make three stops. We spend approximately 20-30 minutes at each feature partner location. Your guide will keep you informed as to how much time remains at each stop so you can make the most of your time and overall experience on your tour.

Is alcohol included?

Tours do not include alcohol. Smile Cycle Tours riders receive features and specials along the way at some of our award-winning feature partner stops.
